How To Identify Rice That Contains Plastic
Everyone are aware that the largest producer of rice in the world is China, producing more than 200 tons of rice on an annual level, but unfortunately, the rice is found to be extremely harmful due to its plastic contents, and this was all reported by the Korean Times.
With this report it is indicated that the companies that produce the Chinese rice have sold plastic rice made out of plastic and potato starch, steamed with some rice aroma. This rice is after that mixed with the organic one in order to mislead the customers.
How To Identify Rice
This had triggered a further investigation with the sole goal to discover whether these particular claims are true, and unfortunately, the results were very shocking!
The Chinese rice contained as much plastic as the little plastic bags contain, so this is alarming! But, after all of this, these are some differences between these two particular types of rice, ad there are ways how to help you spot the artificial one, so here are the ways how to do it:
- Water – put a tablespoon of the rice in a glass of water and if the rice immediately falls down to the bottom, then it is organic.
- Fire – take a few rice kernels and light them up on fire, and if they do not burn out, then they are organic. The opposite outcome of this test will result in the rice not being organic, hence the rice being fake.
- Mortar and pestle – take several rice grains and crush them up, and if they are organic, they will turn into white powder, but if you notice some yellow stains while crushing them up, it means that they are artificial.
- Mold – take some rice, and then put it in a water to boil. After that, transfer it into a plastic container. Then, leave it in a sunny spot for a couple of days, and after that period of time if you notice some mold on top of it, it means it is organic.
All of these tests are simple and very easy to make. They will also protect your health while detecting the origin of the rice you bought and intend to consume.
