Probably one of the most annoying and bad things that just might happen to a person is when a household appliance randomly, just out of nowhere, stops functioning properly. Whether it is from a human error, a mechanical failure or just dirtiness, buying a new appliance or fixing the old one is usually far above the typical budget.

Maybe one of the worst cases is when you just took your clothes out of your washing machine, and they smell like mildew. Well, thankfully, in this situation there is an extremely effective and easy way how to make this all disappear.

You can get rid of the grime and dirt from the unreachable parts of your machine – and all it takes are a few simple ingredients!

In order to clean out your washing machine you usually need to call a service center, and then they will send you someone to take the whole thing apart, clean it, and then put all of the parts back together. Most of the people do not want to go through all that trouble so they just end up buying a new washing machine.

But now, you can clean the washing machine yourself, and make it seem like it’s brand new. All you need is some Clorox bleach and around 16 ounces of white vinegar.

First of all, remember never to use these two ingredients together, because they are highly toxic. Instead, use one, and save the other one for later.

Here is how you do it. Mix the bleach with an equal amount of warm water.

Put it on a towel and then just wipe down all of the accessible areas of the washing machine with it, including underneath the rubber sealing. If you have some parts which are harder to scrub, simply leave the towel directly on the spot for about half an hour to work its magic.

The bleach can diminish any form of mildew. Once you’ve done scrubbing, turn it on the hottest cycle without any clothes inside to wash off all the bleach.

On the second washing cycle, add the 16 ounces of white vinegar and keep the temperature of the washing machine as hot as possible. After this, your washing machine should be as good as new – functional, clean and mildew free!

The best thing is, it will actually cost you a little more than nothing.
