Get Spice Inc, based in Bayonne, New Jersey, recalled some of the ground turmeric brands because they were found to be contaminated with lead. After discovering that the Fresh Finds brand of turmeric contains large amounts of lead, Get Spice Inc issued a recall on July 28th.

Only 8 days later, on August 5th, FDA informed that six more brands are affected. Each of the contaminated brands was produced from the same bulk turmeric.

Symptoms of Lead Poisoning

Lead poisoning from ground turmeric has to be immediately treated because, otherwise, it can cause serious consequences. It is most dangerous for young children, elderly people, pregnant women, as well as people with compromised immune system.
