The statin cholesterol lowering drugs are probably known to be the best way possible for you to lower your cholesterol levels and therefore avoid having a heart attack. They are mostly recommended to people who have high bad cholesterol levels, those who have a heart disease, but it is even prescribed to healthy people as a form of preventive medicine.

The statins are considered to be one of the most prescribed drugs on the market, with more than 1 in every 4 Americans over the age of 45 taking them. This number (which is already inflated) is about to increase significantly because of the new drafts made by the U.S Preventive Services Task Force.

This federal advisory board has recommended statin treatment for the people between the ages of 45 and 70, who have a 10 percent greater risk of heart issues within the following 10 years, and this is even for people who have not previously had a heart attack or a stroke.

It is needless to say that if you are an adult and living in the US and are over 40 years old, there is a good chance that your doctor will mention using statins in your next visit, so this is why you need to do your homework and see if they are really good for you – and there is a big chance they are not as good.

This is why we have made a small list about why you should not take statins at all:

  • They do not work – statin drugs do work to lower your levels of cholesterol, and as these levels decrease, you will of course assume that this is a proof of you getting a bit healthier, and the risk of having a heart attack or a stroke is minimized. Well, you cannot be farther from the truth. There are far more factors that can contribute to a heart attack other than your cholesterol levels. There are even evidence that the statins can even make your heart feel worse and will only appear to be good because it is all part of a deception. One report published by the Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology concluded that the statin advocates actually used a tool called relative risk reduction to amplify the trivial beneficial effects of the statins. This means that the drug can only benefit 1 percent of the population that is taking it.
  • Statins reduce the CoQ10 – this is an important coenzyme that will account for many catastrophic results. Although it has been proposed to be approved by the FDA, it was denied in the year 2014, and with a good explanation. The CoQ10 is used for the body in order to provide it with energy, longevity and a better general quality of life. But, while the statins are claiming to lower your risk of a heart failure, they deplete you from this important compound in the body, making you prone to every kind of heart issues. Also, by removing the CoQ10 n the body you let your bad cholesterol levels go up and your good cholesterol levels to go down. So, if you are over 40 years old, we recommend that you turn to more natural products instead of taking the statins.
  • They reduce the Vitamin K2 – there was a new study that was published not long ago, claiming that the statins can make the health of your heart even worse than it is, can stimulate heart failure and atherosclerosis. These studies have shown how the statins can significantly lower the levels of Vitamin K2 in the body, making the plaque levels worsen. Because the statin drugs inhibit the function of Vitamin K2 in the body, making you at risk of deficiency of this particular vitamin, you can develop a lot of chronic diseases, among which – osteoporosis, cancer, brain disease, heart disease, heart attack and stroke, heal spurs, kidney stones, and much more.
  • Statins reduce the ketone production – the ketone is also responsible for longevity and metabolic health, as well as aging, and the statins also deplete this compound from developing in our body and protecting it.

You will have an increased risk of all kinds of serious diseases – and these include:

  • Cancer – a lot of cholesterol lowering drugs, along with the statins, have been proven to be carcinogenic and significantly increase the risk of prostate and breast cancer.
  • Diabetes – the statins have also been proven to increase your risk of diabetes through various factors. They increase the resistance of insulin, raise your blood sugar levels and prevent your liver from making the cholesterol. This means that the sugar is going back to your bloodstream, raising your sugar levels, making your body able to develop diabetes in an easier way.
  • Neurodegenerative disease – the cholesterol is also essential for the health of your brain, which contains about 25 percent of the cholesterol in your entire body. It is critical for the connection between your neurons, which is allowing you to think, learn new things, and even form memories. So it is not surprising that the statin drugs are often connected to memory loss. Also, remember that the ketone is a fuel to the brain, and the statins lower the production of it in the body, meaning that some complications in the brain are bound to happen.
  • Musculoskeletal disorder – the people who are using stains are more likely to suffer from injuries and have more pain than the people who are not using them. The statin is blocking so many different nutrients that are important for the body that in the end, it all takes its tool on the body, making it unable to heal itself and making it more prone to accidents.
  • Cataracts – the cataracts is clouding the lens of the eye and is considered to be a main cause of vision loss among the elderly. The risk of cataracts is increased with people who are using statin drugs than with those who are not using them.

Consume your food raw, and fresh, stay away from the processed foods and all those foods that have sugars, artificial sweeteners and other unhealthy compounds in them, stop drinking and smoking excessively or at all, make sure you get your healthy portion of sleep during the night, include fermented foods in your dietary plan, optimize your Vitamin D levels, practice stress management exercises, exercise regularly, no matter if it is just plain yoga or high intensity exercises, and make sure you get a good portion of omega 3 fatty acids.
